Goals of the Membership Committee

  • Help the Shawnee District earn the Centennial Quality District Award.
  • Add at least two (2) Membership committee members by the end of the year.
  • Have at least one Membership committee member at each Council Membership committee meeting.
  • Promote membership growth by making at least two (2) presentations at District Roundtable (School Night for Scouting and Webelos Transition).
  • Promote Year Round Recruiting and School Night for Scouting programs.
  • Attend District Committee training for Membership.
  • Exceed the Centennial Quality District Membership growth requirements.
  • Develop an accurate list of all 5 th grade Webelos Scouts working with unit commissioners, Cubmasters and den leaders.
  • Make at least two (2) Webelos transition presentations at roundtables, training course or university of scouting.
  • Provide periodic reports to the District Committee regarding the membership and transition status.
  • Track Webelos transition and work with the unit commissioners to follow-up with Webelos that haven’t joined a Boy Scout Troop. Send follow-up letters or make personal phone calls to ensure every boy has a chance to join a troop.
  • Develop a Webelos Woods program or incorporate the program elements into the Webelos Camporee.
  • Add a Webelos Transition page to the website. Describe the transition process, include a list of Webelos outdoor activities, a list of Boy Scout units with contact information, and a schedule of their open house events.
