First Scouts BSA Troop Serving Girls Registered in Jayhawk Area Council

The Jayhawk Area Council is pleased to announce that our first Scouts BSA Troop serving girls has been registered.

Troop 89 out of Perry, KS in our Sunflower District has the distinction of being the first Troop for girls in the Council to register. This Scouts BSA Troop serving girls is the first of many to come. Several other Troops to serve girls are in various stages of formation. The Jayhawk Area Council is looking forward to creating many more Scouting opportunities for both young men and young women in our service area. Please join us in celebrating this momentous occasion and wishing the young women success in their new Scouting journey.

Scouts BSA is a year-round program for youth in fifth grade through high school that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility to help them become the best version of themselves. For the first time in its 100+ year history, the iconic program of the Boy Scouts of America is open to young women as well as young men, all of whom will have the chance to earn Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout. Nearly 9,000 girls have joined Scouts BSA in the first month since it became available to both boys and girls ages 11-17 and more continue to join every day!

The Jayhawk Area Council continues its proud heritage of serving youth across the eleven counties that comprise our service area. To learn more about our programs and service area please visit http://www.jayhawkcouncil.orgExternal Link.
