Executive Board Approves Program Director Position

At the September 13 Executive Board Meeting of the Jayhawk Area Council, members approved the hiring of a Program Director.  Scout Executive Wayne Pancoast will be seeking candidates for this position with a projected start date before the end of 2017.

With the development of Falley Scout Reservation into a year-round facility and the increase in council level programs, the executive board felt it was important to have a member of the council staff whose focus is on supporting and delivering higher quality council-level programs.  The addition of this position will also allow district executives to focus more on district and unit service.

The Council Program Director will work with council program committees including Leadership Training, Camping and Outdoor Programs, Activities and Civic Services, and Advancement and Recognition as well as the various sub-committees like Order of the Arrow, Shooting Sports, and Outdoor Ethics just to name a few. As part of their assignments, this position will work directly with volunteers in support of the Council Klondike, Council Recognition Dinner, Wood Badge, NYLT, and many other council level program and activities.  This individual will also serve as Jayhawk Area Council Camp Director for summer camping programs and will work closely with the camp ranger on all program activities at Falley Scout Reservation.

We look forward to this position increasing our service to the youth and volunteers of the Jayhawk Area Council.
