Personnel Changes at the Jayhawk Area Council

A Message from Scout Executive Wayne Pancoast...

I am pleased to make the following personnel announcements for the Jayhawk Area Council.

Jessi Evans has been selected as the Shunga District Executive.  She will begin her duties on March 16.

Jessi is a graduate of Washburn University majoring in mathematics and minoring in computer science.  She has extensive work experience in the Topeka community and has currently been serving as my executive assistant with duties including board correspondence and coordinating our annual popcorn fundraiser.  Her Scouting experiences include earning the Silver and Gold awards in Girl Scouts and as a Cub Scout leader with Pack 10 chartered to University United Methodist Church in Topeka when her son was in the pack.

Jessi’s husband Dave was the Klondike Czar for our 2020 Council Klondike as well as a Scoutmaster for Troop 10 and her son Joshua will be our Brownsea Director for Camp Jayhawk this summer.  Scouting is truly a family activity.

Britta McKee has been selected as the Council Program Executive effective March 23.

Britta’s duties will include serving as Camp Delaware Camp Director for the Cub Scout Resident Camps including Fun with Family, serve as a resource to the district day camps and Camp Jayhawk programs, and serve as staff advisor for numerous council program committees.

Britta is a graduate of the University of Kanas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and attended Osage City High School.  She has been working as an Assistive Technology Specialist for Greenbush (assigned to TARC) where she designs, creates, and adapts items for children birth to age 3 who have different abilities.  She also owns Tobias Designs, LLC in Carbondale.

Britta began working as a counselor for Camp MITIOG, which supports kids with Spina Bifida, and eventually became Lead Female Counselor overseeing all campers and counselors. This summer will be her 17th year on that camp’s staff.

Britta comes from a Scouting family.  She began as a “tagalong” to her older brother’s Scouting activities.  She is also actively involved with Pack 175 chartered to Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka, KS where she has served as advancement chair and has been their NOVA counselor and SuperNOVA mentor.  Her husband, Jim, works for BNSF and is the Cubmaster for Pack 175.  They have two children, Daniel (10) and a member of Pack 175, and Tesla (5) who is soon to become a member of Pack 175.  As with Jessi, this is another one of our Scouting families.

Larry Glover has been selected as the Camp Director for Camp Jayhawk.

Larry is currently our Scout Shop manager.  He will take a break from those duties this summer to serve as our Camp Jayhawk Camp Director working with the Scouts BSA sessions.

Larry has a tenured background in Scouting having served as a leader while his son was involved and now with his grandson in Pack 1.  He has assisted on the district and council level in numerous capacities.  He is excited to work with our summer camp staff in providing a quality experience for all the troops that attend Camp Jayhawk.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please join me in congratulating Jessi and Larry on their new responsibilities and welcoming Britta to our staff.
