Jayhawk Area Council Hires New Shunga District Executive

Scout Executive Wayne Pancoast is pleased to announce the addition of Kevin Knak (pronounced Ka-nak) to the Jayhawk Area Council Staff.

Kevin will join us on January 14th as the District Executive for the Shunga District.  Kevin is an Eagle Scout from Troop 2 in Salina, Kansas, a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, was an Assistant Scoutmaster for his troop after turning 18.  He comes from a long-time Scouting family having two older brothers who are Eagle Scouts and his dad who was a Scoutmaster for 10 years and is receiving his Silver Beaver this year in the Coronado Area Council.  Kevin served eight years on camp staff in almost every program up to and including Camp Program Director.  He has been to Northern Tier, participated in Arrow Corp 5 in Wyoming helping rebuild the original Oregon Trail, and was Lodge Treasurer and Head Elangomat for the Kidi Kidish Lodge in Salina.

Kevin is a 2016 graduate from Washburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement as well as a second major in Psychology.  While in college, he was a member of the Alpha Delta Fraternity and the inter-fraternity council serving as president of both.  Kevin and his wife, Macie, (who is also a Washburn University graduate) reside in Topeka and are proud parents of three dogs, Miller, Murphy, and Mickey.  They enjoy watching movies, hanging out with friends, and going on adventures together.

Kevin's first day in the office will be January 22 as he attends training during his first week.

Please welcome Kevin to our staff.
