Eleven Become Chainsaw Safety Trained at Falley Scout Reservation

Chainsaw Safety Training is a course that is conducted locally by each council to certify individuals to be able to operate chainsaws on camp property.  The course covers how to safely handle a chainsaw including the proper clothing, face guards and awareness of surroundings.  The half-day course included approximately 2.5 hours of class room time and over an hour of field work.

Thanks to Maintenance Chair Richard Spielman for coordinating this project and Properties Committee member Adam Moser for conducting the training.  Those who attended this training include: Richard Spielman, Adam Hiebsch, Brad Hiebsch, Richard "Griz" Mohney, Jim LeClair, John Denisar, John Young, Chris Ashley, Chris Wagner, Oliver Bennett and our camp ranger Chad Kennedy.  This was a good number of participants for our first course.

If interested in taking the next Chainsaw Safety Training course and being able to help out at camp, please contact Richard Spielman.  We plan to hold another course in the spring and continue at least twice annually. He can make sure you are on the contact list.

You can also contact Richard if you are interested in joining the FSR Maintenance Team.  We are always looking for skilled individuals to help keep the Jayhawk Area Council properties in top condition.  Those with skills in the fields of plumbing, carpentry, roofing, electrical, and many others are great resources to have as a part of the team. Work days are set up regularly throughout the year.  We look forward to having you as a part of the maintenance team.

Thanks to all for their support of Falley Scout Reservation.
