Wood Badge Training Course C5-197-20

Register Now to receive $100 off registration for 2020 Wood Badge Course!!!

Wood Badge is the Jayhawk Area Council's premier advanced training course for adult volunteers.  This five-day course is conducted over two weekends by some of the best volunteer trainers assembled.  You will learn key leadership and training skills that will help you in your unit, your place of work and in other activities you take part in personally.

Through the generosity of past attendees, a Wood Badge Scholarship Fund has been developed and will provide a $100 discount of registration fees for the first 30 registrants that are paid in full.  This is such a great offer that it will not last long.  When offered for the 2018 course, the 30 scholarships were committed by April.  So do not delay!

You can register by selecting the link on the right side of this article.  You can hold your spot with just a $50 deposit.  As long as you pay the remaining balance for a total of $140 (assuming your were one of the first 30) by June 1, the $100 scholarship will be applied and you will be paid in full.  After June 1, any unfulfilled requests will be offered to the next registrant on the list.

Pack, troop and crew committees are encouraged consider covering a portion or all of the participant fees.  You will see the benefits of having a top trained leader in the quality of program that will be offered.

Do not let this opportunity pass you by.  Pre-commitments for the course were received during this past year's summer camp so the interest is high.  Come join us a Falley Scout Reservation and become Wood Badge trained!

What is Wood Badge Training?

If you are ready to take your Scouting experience to the next level, you will not want to miss this adult leader training experience.  Only offered every two years, you will learn and practice new skills including leadership, patrol dynamics, how to communicate with multiple generations, and many new ways to improve your Scouting Unit.  All this while making memories that last a lifetime!

Wood Badge was originally presented by Lord Baden-Powell as a means of strengthening and preserving the Scouting movement throughout the world.  Since its inauguration in the United States in 1948, thousands of Scouters have participated in Wood Badge and have considered it a mountaintop experience in their Scouting careers.

Today, Wood Badge courses provide advanced leadership development for all Scouting programs; Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venturing.  The objective of Wood Badge is to demonstrate in a practical way the “aims and methods” of Scouting and to develop Scout spirit through a program of activities. You will live Scouting and be exposed to the application of leadership and Scouting skills as they are applied in the development of leaders and youth.

Who May Attend

Those who are at least 18 years of age, a registered Scout leader (includes male and female Scouters in a Pack, Troop, Crew, District, or Council position), and have completed the basic training courses; New Leader Essentials and Leader Specific for your Scouting position by June 30, 2020.
