2019 Topeka Area Friends of Scouting Breakfast

Lamar Hunt, Jr. to Keynote Topeka Scouting Breakfast

The Jayhawk Area Council has announced that Lamar Hunt, Jr. will keynote the 2019 Topeka Area Friends of Scouting Breakfast on February 27th.

Annually the Topeka Area Breakfast welcomes over 300 donors to hear about the progress the area has made in the past year and where it will go in the future. Attendees hear from a youth member of the organization and a notable supporter of the organization.

Guests are invited to make a donation of at least the Support One Scout Level ($200) to underwrite the costs associated with providing Scouting to the youth of our community each year.

About the Keynote:

Lamar Hunt, Jr. is the founder of the Loretto Companies, LLC, a real estate development company specializing in the acquisition and management of residential and commercial properties, as well as the Loretto Foundation, LLC, a private charitable organization. Both companies are based in the greater Kansas City area. Lamar is a member of the founding family of the Kansas City Chiefs, a National Football League (NFL) member team. Mr. Hunt is also the owner of the Kansas City Mavericks, a franchise member of the ECHL, the premiere “AA” professional hockey league in the USA/Canada. He serves on the board of directors of Hunt Midwest Enterprises, a real estate development company based in Kansas City, MO.

Lamar also serves on the board of directors of the Kansas City Symphony, the Bright Futures Fund which helps children attend inner city Catholic Schools, St. Michael the Archangel High School in Lee’s Summit, MO, and Dynamic Catholic, a national organization that leads people into a more dynamic relationship with God. Lamar and his wife Rita won the 2017 Elizabeth Ann Seton Award presented by the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA) to individuals whose support impacts Catholic Education and the well-being of our nation’s youth.

Lamar graduated from the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor’s degree in Music and later completed a Master’s degree in counseling at Dallas Baptist University. Two of Lamar’s passions in life are the beauty of classical music and the promotion of healthy family relationships. He is regularly in demand as a public speaker regarding effective interpersonal relationships. Lamar is married to his lovely wife, Rita, and between them they are the proud parents of nine children and eight grandchildren. Rita, a devoted Kansas State football fan, has worked to promote breast cancer awareness/prevention in the Kansas City community.
