2019 Sunflower District Spring Camporee

The Sunflower District of the Jayhawk Area Council, BSA in conjunction with the Pony Express District is pleased to announce the details of our 2019 Spring Camporee. This event will take place on Friday, March 29th to Sunday, March 31st at the Highland Community College (HCC) Perry Center. Open to all Scouts BSA Troops, the event will feature courses on several hard to acquire merit badges and a trip to Hamm Quarries Conservation Area in Lawrence for an exciting tree planting service project. This location is 8.9 miles east from the HCC Perry Center. Scouts will have the opportunity to campout on the football field or inside the gymnasium at the school. The cost to register is $25 per person which includes meals and safe transportation to the service project area.

Merit badge courses offered include Forestry, Fish and Wildlife Management, Soil and Water Conservation, Plant Science, Landscape Architecture, and Sustainability. These merit badges are rare to find and sometimes difficult to earn. In contingent with the merit badge courses, an information class about the Hornady Awards will be offered. These awards are one of Scouting’s rarest and most prestigious honors. Troop’s will have the opportunity to have their OA Elections held at the camporee. Registration will be open until Wednesday, March 27th at 12:00 PM.
