Topeka, KS (1/9/17)…  The Jayhawk Area Council, Boy Scouts of America will celebrate the accomplishments of the young men who earned their Eagle Scout Award in 2017 at a recognition dinner on Saturday, February 10th. Allan Towle has been named the class honoree and will give the class address during the Jayhawk Area Council Awards Dinner.

2017 Class Namesake Allan Towle currently serves as the President and CEO of Fidelity State Bank and Trust and is a current Board Member and Past President of the Jayhawk Area Council, BSA Board of Directors. He has long been involved with Scouting and is well recognized at Camp wearing his signature buffalo hat.  Mr. Towle earned his Eagle in 1978 and is a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow.  He has been married to his lovely bride Chris nearly 33 years, their 5 sons and one daughter all participated in Scouting. Their son Patrick is also an Eagle Scout.

Allan has been active in the Pack and Troop chartered by Christ the King Catholic Church and serves as a Merit Badge Counselor.  He completed Wood badge in the Buffalo Patrol.

In 2001, he received the Silver Beaver Award from the Jayhawk Area Council. This award is the most prestigious award given by a local council to a volunteer for their service. In addition to serving as President, Mr. Towle has served as V.P. of Administration for the Jayhawk Area Council.

Outside of Scouting, Mr. Towle has served as the Chair of the GO Topeka Board of Directors, and is currently Treasurer for United Way of Greater Topeka.  He is also very involved at Christ the King Church facilitating adult formation programs, assisting with high school youth group and leading youth service mission trips for the past three summers.

Throughout the History of the Boy Scouts of America, the rank of Eagle Scout is one of the greatest achievement of a young man’s Scouting career. It is the only rank a Scout can earned that he holds his entire life. In the modern era, only about 4% of boys that have participated in Scouts attain the rank.

In 2017, fifty-six Scouts in the Jayhawk Area Council achieved the rank of Eagle. Among the Scouts to earn their Eagle are three sets of twins. Through the projects of these Eagle Scouts, 53 organizations benefited from over 6,500 hours of community service. The Eagle Scouts and their project information can be found by clicking here.
