SPECIAL EVENTS

The Jayhawk Area Council hosts several special events throughout the year. These events benefit special projects and programs along with the bottom line of the organization.

Council Eagle Dinner: Scouts who receive their Eagle during the previous calendar year are invited to attend free of charge.  Each Scout is partnered with a company that represents a career of his interest.  Major sponsorships are available at the $5,000 level and above.  Four corporate seats sell for $1,000 and also sponsor an Eagle Scout and their families for a total of eight (8) seats.

Topeka Distinguished Citizen Dinner:  This event honors a local individual and company for their contribution to the community in the Greater Topeka Area.  Held in the fall, the exact date will be determined by the honorees.  Tables are sold and honorees are properly congratulated for their service.  Proceeds benefit the council’s outreach programs in Shawnee County.  Tables of ten (10) start at $2,000 and range to $10,000.

Topeka’s Top 20 Under 40: This event honors the top 20 up-and-coming community leaders under the age of 40.  Individuals are nominated by community members at large, once nominated the individuals must return applications, from those 20 Honorees are chosen by a selection committee. Held in November, this event provides a unique opportunity to recognize those individuals that are the next generation of leaders in our community. Sponsorship opportunities begin at $1,000 and range to $10,000.  Tickets to the open reception format are $60 per attendee.

Boy Scout Golf Classic: This tournament raises funds in support of the council’s camping programs.  The event is comprised of up to 36 foursomes (144 people) competing in a scramble format at the Lake Shawnee Golf Course.  Sponsorship opportunities begin at $1,000 and range to $5,000.  Contact Erin Aldridge (Erin.Aldridge@Scouting.org) if you are interested in helping organize, sponsor or play in this tournament.
